Life is an Amalgamation of Gratification

Amalgamation

So far this is just a list, an incomplete thought process that one’s quality of life (success, accomplishment, happiness, health) is a direct result of gratification. Specifically, whether one incorporates delayed gratification, immediate gratification, or a combination of both in one’s life.

Nothing too deep. Just something to think about.

Listing Gratification

Examples of Delayed Gratification

  • Saving & investing money
  • Eating food for health & fitness
  • Exercising & training (body & mind)
  • Working in a field until one becomes a SME (Subject Matter Expert)
  • Receiving a School Diploma
  • Running towards problems & Enduring to find solutions

Examples of Immediate Gratification

  • Using Social Media (for non-business/non-marketing reasons)
  • Watching Television
  • Unhealthy Eating (includes unhealthy consumption of alcohol)
  • Misusing Drugs
  • Gambling
  • Running away from problems & quitting

Balance

These two lists are nowhere near conclusive, but you probably get the point. Most of us exist somewhere in between, doing things that show up on both the immediate and delayed gratification lists.

What boggles the mind is how much time is spent (and how quickly it flies by) when one does something for immediate gratification.

How easy would it be to exist only doing things that gave us immediate gratification? And, what would be our quality of life if we did?

A healthy life is a balanced life.
