“If you show people the real you, you will not only make friends, you will make the right friends.”
Backstory & a little throat clearing
For about a week now, I’ve been crawling out of my skin, trying to do just about anything to stop thinking about my ankle.
Last week, in one of those moments you can’t believe actually happens, I broke my ankle. I was running on grass, took a wrong step and snap, I dislocated my ankle and fractured (spiral) my fibula.
The doctors orders basically translated to sit on my ass all day, keep the ankle elevated, keep it iced, and try not to be bored.
So that led to a visit to Netflix. Honesetly, the only reason I pay for Netflix is for others in the family to use it. Personally, I would rather read a book. But, I didn’t on this occasion.
I took a chance and started watching Raising Dion. A subplot in the first few episodes is about a little boy and his mother who find themselves recently moved to a new home and school. Dion, is having a hard time making friends and trying to be cool instead of just being himself.
So his mother tells him, “If you show people the real you, you will not only make friends, you will make the right friends.”
I was surprised to hear a little bit of wisdom in a show that inevitably is about a little boy with super powers, so I wrote it down. And now, it finds a place on my blog.
