Times of reflection – Moments of silence

People on phones

We live in a noisy world, the switch is always on, where speed is preferred over tempo and super-sized is desired over variety.

When do we take time to reflect? When do we slow down enough to listen, to be silent?

Technology has advanced to an incredible level even compared to 100 years ago, but have we?

No.

Physiologically we are essentially the same creatures, the same human race, that we were 2000 years ago. There have been no grand or incredible advancements to us physically. No noticeable evolution or change in behavior.

The next advancement will occur in the mind. It will happen while reflecting during moments of silence. And through becoming better by applying what we learn.

This type of advancement is slow and happens on an individual basis. Thus, the stagnation of our race for thousands of years despite a continuous rise in technology.

Unless intelligence and reflection is balanced by survivability and mortality, the human race will stay its course.
