A Coward Writing

The hardest part about writing is discovering how shallow you are as a person. Nothing gets too close. Nothing is understood too deeply. It’s a self defense mechanism hardwired in your psyche. Your amygdala is programmed to keep you safe. Safe from feeling highs, so you don’t experience lows. Safe from experiencing true lows and you never feel real highs.

You aren’t a coward writing though. You’re a coward living. Living in a one dimensional reality oblivious and fearful of what could or might or should. But, heroes are scared too. A hero isn’t brave and courageous by suppressing emotions and pushing away closeness. A hero dares to live and tries to succeed. A hero is afraid, but faces fear and conquers it through action.

Dare to live. Dare to understand. Be brave and feel. From among your weaknesses, try. From within your fears, live. Take action. Don’t hide. For you are a hero reborn. Scared to fail, but too stubborn to quit. Life is painful, but admitting your vulnerabilities and not hiding in darkness leads to depth and resolution.

A coward writing is the first step towards a hero living.
