What is the difference between a good author and a great author?
Is it how much money they earn or the number of readers they reach?
Is it how much their work is appreciated?
If one reader likes author A and 100 readers like author B, which author is good and which is great?
If you enjoy author A more than any other author in the history of authors, and the world doesn’t, is the author good or great?
Must an author’s works be read to be considered good or great?
What say you?
A great author is one that resonates with the reader, who connects, who one can believe, who one can implicitly trust. When reading the works of a great author, one forgets they are reading at all for they have been taken away to another place and are seeing (feeling, touching, smelling, experiencing) a new world through the eyes of the author. A great author gets out of the way.
In the end, only you get to decide what the difference is between the good and the great. The difference may change as you do, as you grow and explore, but when you find the one (the great), you will know.
