With Today, Came Inescapable Pain

With today came inescapable pain. What a wonderful reminder that I am alive.

My ankle, the bones of my fibula and tibia, are aching, relentlessly. Any pressure, whether it be from an ice pack or air, causes pain.

I can feel where the surgeon drilled through my tibia, through the space in between, and through my fibula.

Damn impressive, the pain.

Either the Oxycodone stopped working, or my degree of pain surpassed its ability to suppress it.

Ibuprofen doesn’t touch it. Ice doesn’t help.

The only thing left to combat the pain is my mind, to give it less power.

And sleep.
